I am sending a couple photo’s and description of my friend’s 1969 Chevelle SS 396 L89. My friend is Bennie Hofer and his Chevelle is the rare L89 style. This car has taken several best of show awards and in the spring of 2002 this car took the Outstanding Custom Award, the Best Modified Muscle award, and the Prestigious Peoples Choice Award at the ISCA Spokane Auto Boat Speed Show. The drivetrain is a custom job with an original ZZ430 S/N 258 which delivers a healthy 430 HP at 5800 rpm with 430 ft lbs torque at 4000 rpm. The transmission is the Double D series Richmond 6 speed with long shifter which drives the GM 12 Bolt narrowed Moroso Posie with 430 gears and 33 spline Moser axles. This car received its frame up restoration between March 2000 and March 2002. During this restoration nothing was altered on the body that would hamper a complete stock restoration in the future. The exterior color is Olympic Gold with a black vynil top and the interior color is midnight green. I would be glad to answer any questions on this car or talk to other people that enjoy them.
